Itinerary
Day 1 – Nashville, TN – Opryland Resort – Arrive in Nashville, TN where you check into the Gaylord Opryland Resort for a three night stay. The resort features glass atrium and is surrounded by 9 acres of indoor gardens, winding rivers and waterfalls. Dinner is on your own this evening, but you will find plenty of dining options with 15 restaurants, 4 bars and multiple retails stores.
Day 2 – Nashville Troubadour Tour – Johnny Cash & Patsy Cline – Ryman Backstage Tour – Grand Ole Opry – Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before meeting your Singer/Songwriter guide for a Troubadour City Tour. This is an “Only in Nashville” kind of experience. Bringing new meaning to the phrase “Entertaining Narrative” it’s sightseeing with a singer/songwriter guide. The tour will include Downtown Nashville’s colorful history with drive-bys of the historic Ryman Auditorium, Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge, Honky Tonk Row. You will hear what it’s like trying to break into Nashville’s music scene, both the struggles and the victories.
Then visit the new Johnny Cash Museum, featuring a world class collection of items that tells the story of his life. The museum houses the world’s largest collection of memorabilia from the late country entertainer. Located above the Johnny Cash Museum is the Patsy Cline Museum. Though she left the world tragically at the age of 30 in 1963, Patsy Cline made an indelible mark on Country Music. The museum celebrates the life of the legendary songstress and features hundreds of never before seen artifacts, personal belongings, interactive touch screens, film & videos.
This afternoon, you enjoy a Guided Ryman Backstage Tour. Built in 1892, the Ryman Auditorium is a National Historic Landmark. Home of the Grand Ole Opry during country music’s formative years, 1943-1974, the Ryman is known as “The Mother Church of Country” – the building was once a church. Its stage has been graced by legends from Houdini and Hank Williams to Bob Hope and Bruce Springsteen.
Tonight, dinner is included at the Santa Fe Cattle Company. Following dinner, you see the Grand Ole Opry Live Radio Show. For more than 85 years, country’s best have mesmerized audiences at the Grand Ole Opry Live Radio Show, the show that made country music famous. Each Opry show features an array of performances by new stars, superstars and legends of country music as well as great bluegrass, comedy and more. Opry shows are never rehearsed and never the same show twice. (B,D)
Day 3 – Country Music Hall of Fame – “From the Studio to the Stage” – Nashville Nightlife Dinner & Show – After breakfast, visit the Country Music Hall of Fame, the keeper of priceless Country Music Treasures. Your self-guided tour is a walk through history, one that leads you from the earliest folk traditions to the music that thrills millions of fans today. Every tour ends in the Hall of Fame Rotunda, the never-ending circle, and storied home of the inductees.
While touring the Hall of Fame your group will sit in on a Songwriter Session. You learn from an accomplished songwriter the stories behind classic and current hits as they share their stories and songs, and answering audience questions.
Enjoy some free time this afternoon downtown for lunch on your own and to do a little shopping and sightseeing. This evening, you enjoy the Nashville Nightlife Dinner & Show. Come and experience a celebration of Country Music from both past and present. Hear songs from many of the great artists in country music history along with today’s hottest superstars. Enjoy the music of everyone from Hank Williams Sr. and Patsy Cline to the superstars of today like Sara Evans and Toby Keith! Throughout the season we have many guest stars appear at our theater including: (Grand Ole Opry Star) Jeannie Seely, “The Fiddle Man” Tim Watson, Diana Murrell, “Nashville’s favorite” Brenda Best, Paula Poe Murrell (from the Tammy Wynette show) and many other celebrities. Day 4 – Storytellers Hideaway Museum & Farm w/lunch – Carnegie Legends Museum – Memphis, TN – This morning after breakfast, you depart for Memphis, TN. First stop today is in Bon Aqua, TN for a tour of the Storytellers Hideaway Museum & Farm. This was the place Johnny Cash used to escape from public life. Now the Storytellers Hideaway Farm and Museum, it’s a must-stop for anyone interested in knowing more about the man behind the country music icon, as well as the region’s rich history.
Tour the Storytellers Museum; this is a loving restoration of a building that Johnny Cash once owned. He had created a little stage here, and held small intimate concerts for the community. There is an extensive collection of Johnny Cash photos and memorabilia, including the famous One-Piece- At-A-Time car, created from Johnny’s own song of the same name. Explore displays in the Farmhouse, and discover stories of the private side of Johnny Cash. Lunch is included today while at the farm.
Continuing south you visit the Carnegie Legends Museum in Jackson, TN. Here in the alleys and honkytonks of Jackson a rich mixture of country music and blues, fueled by moonshine, created the setting where the first rock music (Rockabilly) was heard on planet earth. It was written and played here by Carl Perkins and others even before it was recorded it in Memphis.
Rock and Blues is somehow in the air here, how else can you explain Jackson as the source for the Hard Rock Cafe and The House of Blues? Jackson was the site of the very first Hard Rock Cafe in America, launched by the hometown boy, Isaac Tigrett. And you can revisit this magic and touch the greatness standing at ground zero for the birth of Rock N Roll.
Continue travel to Memphis, TN where you check into the Guest House Hotel at Graceland for a three night stay. Dinner is on your this evening, but the hotel offers two full service restaurants as well as lounges and shuttles to downtown Memphis/Beale Street. There is nightly entertainment in the lobby lounge and free movies in the 464-seat theater. (B,L)
Day 5 – Memphis Mojo Tour – Sun Studio – Rock N Soul Museum – Dinner on Beale Street – Enjoy breakfast this morning before a one-of-a-kind driving tour of Memphis’ musical heritage. A professional Beale Street musician/tour guide will sing of the city’s music history, entertaining you with tunes and behind-the-scenes stories of Memphis celebrities. Along the way, you will see the City’s famous sights including The Lorraine Motel and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, plus you have photo stops at Graceland and the Johnny Cash home.
During this tour you will also visit Sun Studios – The Birthplace of Rock N’ Roll (1950) and home to the ‘Million Dollar Quartet’ – Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins. Did you know Studio owner Sam Phillips, a music legend in his own right, discovered BB King and recorded Howlin’ Wolf while working for another label? And, did you know that Sun Studios is still rockin’ today? You never know who may walk in the door as you’re walking out.
This afternoon visit the Rock N Soul Museum and discover the birth of rock and soul music. Created by the Smithsonian Institution, tells the story of musical pioneers who, for the love of music, overcame racial and socio-economic barriers to create the music that shook the entire world.
Tonight, travel to Beale Street for Dinner at the Blues City Cafe and sample some of the South’s favorite dishes. After dinner, you will have time to explore Beale Street on your own. (B,D)
Day 6 – Memphis Music Hall of Fame – Elvis Experience at Graceland – Dinner at Marlowe’s – Following breakfast, tour the Memphis Music Hall of Fame, a gem for both serious blues fans and casual visitors. Filled with robust exhibits and in-depth history, it educates and entertains with all that what is The Blues Culture. This is your introduction to some of the greatest musicians of all time – each responsible for shaping modern music and changing the world forever right here in Memphis!
Then spend the afternoon at Graceland. Enjoy the Elvis Experience Tour + Airplanes tour of Graceland. At Graceland, explore Elvis’ home, Graceland Mansion. Fully-immerse yourself in his life and career at the all-new Elvis Presley’s Memphis entertainment complex. Stroll through a rotating pop culture exhibit at the Graceland Exhibition Center. There are more attraction, more great stories – and more to see, hear, taste and explore than ever before.
This evening, enjoy a BBQ dinner at Marlowe’s. Enjoy the salute to Elvis decor. This eatery was featured on “Dinners, Drive-Ins and Dives” in a January 2018 show with Guy Fieri. (B,D)
