Itinerary

Day 1 – Sioux Falls, SD – Dinner at Crooked Pint Ale House – The Arc of Dreams

Today, arrive in Sioux Falls, SD for a two night stay.  Dinner is included this evening at the Crooked Pint Ale House.  This restaurant offers a warm, welcoming atmosphere and is known for a delicious menu of traditional pub foods including their award-winning Lucy (stuffed burgers!), pot pies, and Reubens.  There is also a great variety of local brews on tap.

Following dinner, stop at The Arc of Dreams.  This massive stainless steel sculpture spans across the Big Sioux River downtown nearly the length of a football field between 6th and 8th streets. At the center of the Arc of Dreams is a 15-foot gap, 85-feet above the river, representing the leap of faith dreamers take to see their dreams come true. It is especially beautiful when the Arc is lit at night. (D)

Day 2 – Old Court House Museum – Falls Park with Lunch – USS South Dakota Memorial – Brewery Tasting – Olde Towne Dinner Theatre

This morning explore Midwestern history at the Old Courthouse Museum. Completed in 1893, this Richardsonian Romanesque building includes a landmark clock tower, circuit courtroom and 16 wall murals painting from 1915-1917. This beautifully restored Quartzite building features three floors of regional history exhibits including several exhibits dedicated to the American Indians of the area.

Next, visit Falls Park.  Named for the Sioux Tribe of American Indians and the waterfalls of the Big Sioux River. Scenic Falls Park encompasses over 128 acres and is located in historic downtown. A triple-waterfall spills an average of 7,400 gallons of water over a 100-foot drop each second. Falls Park is home to a visitor information center, five-story viewing tower, gift shop, and historic ruins.

Lunch is included today at the Falls Overlook Café, a renovated hydroelectric building offering a great lunch, great views of the falls and great ice cream.

This afternoon visit the U.S.S South Dakota Battleship Memorial. The U.S.S. South Dakota was the most decorated battleship of World War II. It fought in every major naval battle in the Pacific from 1942-1945.  Through exhibits, artifacts and displays, the Memorial looks to preserve the history of USS South Dakota and its crew and educate current and future generations on the most decorated battleship of World War II.

Next, visit to the Miner Brewing Co.  At this taproom you are able to sip, savor and enjoy all the flavors of Prairie Berry, a winery located in Hill City, South Dakota. Miner Brewing Co., sister company to the winery is also on tap. Relax and explore the flavors of South Dakota.

This evening, enjoy the Ole Towne Dinner Theatre.  The region’s only year-round dinner theatre. The Theatre specialize in fine dining and high quality theatrical productions plus they are committed to celebrating the art and the joy of community theatre. (B,L,D)

Day 3 – Downtown Sculptures – Depart for Home

After breakfast, head downtown for some last minute sightseeing.  SculptureWalk is an exciting exhibit of over 55 sculptures displayed year-round from the Washington Pavilion to Falls Park in downtown Sioux Falls. The sculptures are owned by the artists and loaned to the exhibit for one year. From May through September, the public votes for its favorite sculpture, which is deemed the “People’s Choice Award.” That sculpture is purchased at the end of the exhibit year for the city’s permanent collection. Each year the exhibit will display new sculptures.
