Itinerary
Day 1 – Saturday – Washington, DC – Military Band Performances
After arriving in our Nation’s Capital, your first stop will be a visit to Arlington National Cemetery, America’s shrine to valor and sacrifice. No land in American is more sacred than this square mile. Afterwards, check into a local hotel for a two night stay. This evening visit the National Harbor where your group will participate in an All-American Celebration featuring Military Band performances along the Potomac River.
Day 2 – Sunday – National Memorial Day Choral Concert – NEW Museum of the Army
Enjoy a full breakfast at the hotel before visiting the NEW Museum of the Army. The NEW Museum of the United States Army celebrates over 240 years of Army History and honors our Nation’s Soldiers–past, present, and future–The Regular Army, The Army Reserve, and the National Guard.
Following a break for lunch on your own, enjoy the National Memorial Day Choral Festival Concert at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Presented by Music Celebrations International, the American Veterans Center, and the United States Air Force, the performance will feature a 350-voice choir and the U.S. Air Force Orchestra. After the show return to the National Harbor for a free evening to enjoy the attractions, shops, & restaurants located here. An American celebration featuring Military Base Performances continue this evening. (B)
Day 3 – Monday – Monuments & Memorials Tour – National Memorial Day Parade
After breakfast at the hotel this morning, your group will make visits to the following Monuments and Memorials: WWII Memorial, FDR Memorial, NEW Eisenhower Memorial, Navy Memorial, & Air Force Memorial.
Next take your VIP seats for The National Memorial Day Parade and included catered lunch. This nationally telecasted parade is the largest of its kind in the United States. It is held annually along Constitution Avenue in our nation’s capital to share the story of American honor and sacrifice from across the generations and is our nation’s largest Memorial Day event, drawing hundreds of thousands of spectators to the National Mall to pay tribute to those who have served, are serving, and most importantly those who have made the ultimate sacrifice while in service to our country. Dinner will be on your own this evening. (B, L)
Day 4 – Tuesday – Museum of the Marine Corps – Old Glory at the Museum of American History – Depart for Home
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before visiting the Museum of the Marine Corps. It was expanded to include sections on more modern Marine Corps history, such as the 1983 Beirut barracks bombing, a combat art gallery, and a war on terror gallery.
Next, head to the Smithsonian Museum of American History to see Old Glory, the actual flag that flew over Ft. McHenry in 1814 and the one that inspired Francis Scott Key to write what is now our National Anthem. Enjoy lunch on own while at the museum. Depart for home. (B)
