Itinerary
Day 1 – Savannah, GA – Dinner at Pirates’ House
Arrive in Savannah, GA and check into your Historic District hotel for a three-night stay. Tonight, enjoy dinner at the Pirates’ House. “Ahoy, Matey” since 1753, The Pirates’ House has been welcoming visitors to Savannah with a bounty of delicious food and drink and rousing good times. Situated a scant block from the Savannah River, The Pirate’s House first opened as an inn for seafarers, and fast became a rendezvous for blood-thirsty pirates and sailors from the Seven Seas. Here seamen drank their grog and discoursed, sailor fashion, on their exotic high sea adventures from Singapore to Bombay and from London to Port Said. (D)
Day 2 – Savannah Trolley Tour – City Market – Davenport House – Leopold’s Ice Cream – Cooking Class & Dinner
This morning, enjoy a Trolley Tour of Savannah through the Historic District of the City. On this tour see moss-draped oaks, stately mansions, beautiful squares, expansive riverfront, and over 270 years of history – from the comfort of your nostalgic trolley seat. Be on the lookout, because characters from Savannah’s past like to hop aboard the trolley from time-to-time.
Then enjoy some free time at City Market for lunch on own and shopping. Savannah’s famous City Market has been known as the heart of Savannah for centuries. Savannah visitors and locals flock to City Market for popular restaurants, creative art spaces, live performances, unique shopping options and so much more.
Next, enjoy a tour of the Davenport House. Start with a tour of the House, a stately Federal-style home, built by master carpenter Isaiah Davenport for his household. Get a glimpse into 1820s domestic life in the urban port city of Savannah.
The afternoon also includes a sweet treat at Leopold’s Ice Cream. Named One of the Top 10 Ice Cream Parlors in the World, Leopold’s is a “Must Do!” From handcrafted, old-fashioned soda fountain favorites to Hollywood movie memorabilia, there’s something for everyone at Leopold’s Ice Cream! Staff from Leopold’s Ice Cream will greet your group outside the Davenport House with a cooler full of prefilled ice cream cups.
The evening features a Cooking Class and Dinner at Chef Darin’s Kitchen Table. Class included a discussion on food, cooking demo, techniques, and more. The best part of all comes at the end of the slicing, dicing, tossing, and sautéing when you get to sit down to eat your culinary handiwork! (B,D)
Day 3 – Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace – River Street – Savannah Candy Kitchen Tour – American Prohibition Museum & Cocktail Class – Dinner Cruise
Start the day with a tour of the Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace, perhaps the only “house museum” in the nation created specifically for girls to enjoy—though it is loved by everyone! At this unique house museum, owned and operated by Girl Scouts of the USA, visitors can trace the arc of Juliette Gordon Low’s life and the Girl Scout Movement she founded.
Next, enjoy some free time for lunch on own and shopping on River Street, a glittering, multi-faceted gem along the broad Savannah River. The century old buildings, once cotton warehouses, have been converted to antique shops, distinctive boutiques, spectacular galleries, quaint brew pubs, fabulous restaurants, unique nightspots, elegant inns and hotels. Bustling with welcoming hospitality, it’s also the place to see Savannah from the river that made her by taking a cruise or watching ships from around the globe sail into one of the busiest ports in America.
Also included today is a tour and tasting at the Savannah Candy Kitchen. Come watch the candy masters make fresh pralines, salt water taffy, and chocolate topped gophers and enjoy a sample.
The afternoon includes a visit to Savannah’s newest attraction, the American Prohibition Museum. Take a journey through the institution and repeal of the 18th Amendment. The museum holds over 200 authentic artifacts of the era, including an original 1918 beer truck. Take photos with Al Capone, dance the appers’ Charleston craze, and feel the weight of a Tommy machine gun at just a few of the interactive displays. End your tour with a Cocktail Class at the Speakeasy bar where you can enjoy period-themed cocktails and music.
End the day with a Dinner Cruise on a Savannah Riverboat. Cruise down the Savannah River while enjoying a delicious dinner, music and an unforgettable view of Savannah. (B,D)
