Chip and Joanna Gaines, stars of the HGTV series, “Fixer Upper” call Waco home. They are also the owners of the Magnolia Market at the Silos and a newly opened bakery, Magnolia Flour. Come along and spend some time in Waco learning more about this interesting couple and shopping at their market. There’s a little something for everyone in Waco . . . history, culture and shopping! This trip also includes two nights in San Antonio with an Enchilada Cooking School, a dinner cruise and the Alamo.

Itinerary
Day 1 – San Antonio – River Walk Dinner
Today, you will travel to San Antonio, TX. On arrival this afternoon, a local guide will meet your bus and provide a narrated tour that will focus on Mexican Culture and Spanish Missions. If time allows, you will visit at least one.
Then you will check into your hotel at the San Antonio Riverwalk for a two night stay.
The end of the day is colorful orientation to the City and festive dinner on a colorful barge floating along the San Antonio River Walk, aka The Paseo Del Rio. Enjoy Southwestern Texican Cuisine, including Mexican Plates and Down Home Southern Favorites plus enjoy a historical narrative tour from the Barge Captain. (D)
Day 2 – The Alamo – Market Square – Enchilada Cooking School
This morning, you will meet a local guide for a walking tour along San Antonio’s Riverwalk, also known as the Paseo del Rio.
Your first stop is the Historic Alamo the sight of the famous losing battle that helped secure Texas’ independence from Mexico. While here you will also see the IMAX movie “The Price of Freedom”. The heroism of the 189 Texans and settlers who defended the besieged Alamo fort for 13 days against the Mexican army of General Santa Anna is recreated in “ALAMO: THE PRICE OF FREEDOM.”
Lunch is on your own at Market Square, the largest Mexican Market in the U.S. with plenty of time for shopping.
Tonight’s dinner is in a classroom, complete with a cooking demonstration. You will learn how to make the perfect Enchilada paired with the perfect margaritas. This two-hour class includes cooking instruction where you learn to make Enchilada Verdes (chicken enchilada with tangy green tomatillo sauce) served with rice, borracho beans, handmade flour or corn tortillas, and a non-alcoholic beverage. You will also be instructed on how to make two (2) popular margaritas and receive servings of both. The event ends with a dessert of fabulous tres leches cake, and a souvenir recipe card. (B,D)
Day 3 – LBJ Presidential Library – Waco, TX
This morning your group will leaves San Antonio and travels to Austin. Here tour the Lyndon Baines Johnson Presidential Library, one of thirteen Presidential Libraries administered by the National Archives and Records Administration. It houses 45 million pages of historical documents which include the papers from the entire public career of Lyndon Baines Johnson and those of his close associates. President Johnson insisted that the Library that bears his name tell future generations the story of this rich period of history “with the bark off.”
After lunch in Austin, and continuing on to Waco, where you check your Deluxe Waco hotel for a two night stay.
Tonight, enjoy an elegant and unique dining experience at 1424 Bistro in Waco.(B,D)
Day 4 – Waco City Tour – Magnolia Market & the Silos
This morning meet your local guide for a sightseeing tour of Waco. Some of the sights you will see include: Downtown Waco, the Waco Suspension Bridge opened in 1870 and contains nearly 3 million bricks and often featured in the opening scenes of Fixer Upper, Baylor University the oldest continuously operating university in Texas, and more!
There are many options for group photos along the way – Cattle Drive sculpture featuring a herd of thirty or so bronze cattle, Magnolia House, unveiled to fans on a special Christmas 2015 episode and at the Waco Tourist Information Center or Waco Convention Center there are life size cutouts of Chip & Joanna!
The afternoon is yours to enjoy at Magnolia Market and the Silos owned by Chip & Joanna Gaines, hosts of HGTV’s Fixer Upper. Start with lunch on own at the ‘Siloteria’ – a collection of food trucks located here. Then you have time for shopping in the Market, games on the lawn, and touring the garden.
Dinner this evening is at Diamondbacks, Waco’s Best Steak House where you indulge in an award- winning cuisine, expertly prepared with only the highest quality steaks, seafood and ingredients. (B,D)
Day 5 – Depart for Home
