Itinerary
Day 1 – Omaha, NE – Dinner at Gorat’s Steakhouse – Dessert at eCreamery
Today, arrive in Omaha, NE, home of billionaire Warren Buffett. Visit all of Buffett’s favorite places on this four day tour.
Check into your downtown hotel for a three night stay. After time to freshen up, enjoy dinner at Warren Buffett’s favorite Omaha steakhouse, Gorat’s and eat like a billionaire. Gorat’s is an old-school Italian steakhouse that has been in Omaha since 1944, and eating a meal here has become something of a pilgrimage for Berkshire shareholders and Buffett enthusiasts. You might want to try Buffett’s favorite meal, a T-bone steak, double order of hash browns and a Cherry Coke. You’ll also get a peek into Warren’s private dining space inside Gorat’s.
Following dinner, take a stroll down the streets of Omaha’s Dundee neighborhood and experience gourmet ice cream at its best. eCreamery serves unique flavors churned to perfection. Featured on the television show, Shark Tank, the mouth-watering ice cream has also been listed as one of Oprah’s favorite things. Billionaire Warren Buffet took Paul McCartney there when the music legend visited Omaha. Order Buffett’s favorite flavor, butter brickle, which by the way, was invented in … you guessed it, Omaha. Day 2 – Guided Warren Buffet Driving Tour – Lunch at Upstream Brewing Co – Hollywood Candy
After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a guided driving tour of the city and find out why billionaire Warren Buffett chooses to live, work, and play in Omaha. Explore Buffett’s stomping grounds and make memories worth a million bucks (maybe even a billion). Tour Highlights include: Berkshire Hathaway Headquarters, Old National Indemnity Building, Dundee Bank, Dundee Presbyterian, Borsheim’s Fine Jewelry, Omaha-World Herald Building and Pioneer Courage Park.
Lunch is included today at Upstream Brewing Co. As Omaha’s original brewpub, they been making visitors feel like locals and locals feel like another round since 1996.
Following lunch, visit the new Hollywood Candy Shop. The shop contains hundreds of memorabilia items from 1950s to 1970s era. Discover the candy you grew up with. The candy shop contains thousands of choices from Jelly Bellys to Moon Pies. The warehouse also contains a small theater and retro malt shop. It’s a great place to do a little holiday shopping.
Return to the hotel to freshen up for before dinner at a local restaurant. (B,L,D)
Day 3 – Father Flanagan’s Boys Town – Strategic Air Command’s Aerospace Museum – Brazen Head Irish Pub Dinner – Omaha Community Playhouse
Your day begins at Father Flanagan’s Boy’s Town. A docent will board your bus at the Visitors Center and narrate your driving tour. You will see where the children live, play, work, go to school and pray. Your first stop will be at the Hall of History, a museum that shows you how the Village developed. Among the artifacts on display is the Best Actor Oscar presented to Spencer Tracy for his role as Father Flanagan in the motion picture “Boys Town. ” Other attractions include the Dowd Chapel and Father Flanagan’s Tomb, the Garden of the Bible, Father Flanagan’s House and a Gift Shop. You will also have time for a delightful lunch at the Visitors Center Cafe.
This afternoon you tour the Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum where the history of SAC, the Cold War and aerospace artifacts are on display. Your guide will teach you about the Strategic Bombers of WWII and Dolittle’s Raiders. You’ll hear about the Tuskegee Airmen, Gary Powers and the U2, Aviation in the Korean War and the Air War in Vietnam. On display you will see bombers, freighters, fighters missiles and rockets; including a Flying Fortress, The Peacemaker & Skytrain, a Nighthawk & Blackbird, Hound Dog & Cruise Missile and more. Your guide will walk you through an experience, telling personal stories and accounts of significant historical events that span more than 70 years of history.
Return to the hotel this afternoon to freshen up for dinner at the Brazen Head Irish Pub. This truly unique and authentic pub features traditional Irish cuisine as well as a lengthy beer selection, and have live Irish music every Wednesday.
Following dinner, enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour of the largest community theater in the country, the Omaha Community Playhouse. Learn about the process of implementing a large stage production including set and costume design. After the tour, your group will enjoy one of the Playhouse’s quality productions. With two distinct theaters, the Playhouse offers nine regular season productions including an annual summer and fall Broadway musical. (B,D)
